Noro Cashmere Island.

We just received a shipment of the latest Noro yarns and colours. This is Cashmere Island. We have 4 breathtaking colours that feel luxuriously soft. 30 % cashmere...But of course we also got the new colours in Kureyon, Silk Garden and Silk Garden Chunky. We also received a package of all Kureyon Sockyarn Colours just in time, cause we were almost sold out!

Vandaag ontvingen we de nieuwe kleuren en kwaliteiten Noro. Dit is Cashmere Island. We hebben 4 schitterende kleurstellingen binnen gekregen die heerlijk zacht aanvoelen. 30 % cashmere. Maar natuurlijk hebben we ook de nieuwe kleuren Kureyon, Silk Garden en Silk Garden Chunky binnen gekregen. En precies op tijd een nieuwe partij Kureyon Sock, we waren zo goed als uitverkocht!

This is Marja, one of the founders of Stitch 'n Bitch in our local town of Hoorn and one of our valued customers. She invents her own styles and patterns from scratch, doesn't just replicate a pattern but gives it her own creative and stylish twist. She hand-knits a lot but this time she used her knitting machine. She used Noro Kureyon Sock from our store (as she is showing in the picture), combined with a black background yarn in a technique that is called "plating". The black yarn just slightly shines through thus giving it more depth. Thanks for sharing your work Marja! I think it looks stunning and very refined!

Dit is Marja, een van de oprichtsters van Stitch'n Bitch in onze eigen stad Hoorn en een van onze gewaardeerde klanten. Ze ontwerpt het liefst zelf , neemt niet klakkeloos een patroon over maar geeft het haar eigen creatieve draai in haar eigen stijl. Ze breit veel met de hand maar deze keer met de machine. Ze gebruikte Noro Kureyon Sock uit onze winkel (zoals de bollen in haar hand op de foto), gecombineerd met een dun zwart achtergrondgaren in een techniek die "plating" wordt genoemd. Het zwarte garen zie je net genoeg en dat geeft het ontwerp meer diepte. Bedankt dat je je werk met ons wilde delen Marja! Het ziet er geweldig en stijlvol uit!

In garens, wat is er luxueuzer dan pure cashmere en pure zijde? Ik heb 6 kleuren besteld van het spiksplinternieuwe Lana Grossa garen Solo-Cashmere, zoals de naam al doet vermoeden een droomgaren van 100 % zuiver cashmere. Ook komen er, samen met mijn GROOTSTE bestelling bij Colinette OOIT, 6 prachtige kleuren van het zuiver zijden garen Tao. Beide pure luxe en... zzzzzzzzacht.... Over 3-4 weken kan ik er meer over vertellen...

Trouwens... Wist je dat wij de enige wolwinkel in Nederland zijn die Noro Hana Silk verkopen?

Dzonba Himalayan Slippers with Colinette Jitterbug by Siem.

Siem has a blog that is one of my favorites to read. I saw these hip slippers (Himalayan Dzonba's) there and asked her permission to also put them on mine since I think they are a great example of modern knitwear made with yarn from our store. She used Colinette Jitterbug in the colourway "Mardigras" You may find the pattern here. Thanks Siem!

Een van de leukste (brei)blogs van NL is die van Siem. Ik zag daar deze Dzonba Himalayan Slippers en ik vond ze helemaal geweldig omdat ze zo hip zijn en gemaakt met garen uit onze winkel: Colinette Jitterbug in de kleur "Mardigras". Ik vroeg haar of ik ze door kon plaatsen en voila! Voor liefhebbers en leden van Ravelry staat hier het patroon. Bedankt Siem!

Fabulous Colinette Perugino Throws by customers Marja and Vivienne.

The blue tones throw was made by our valued customer Marja and is made with the latest Colinette colourway "Adonis Blue", which consists of blues, purples and greens and is just gorgeous. Colinette makes kits in combinations that are ready to knit but like Marja you can also make your own selection of colourways and make your own unique combo. Thanx for showing Marja!

The red one is made by our valued customer Vivienne in the Charade colourway kit that is my favourite ready-to-knit-kit colour. This kit I brought back from Colinette in Wales as my first sample of the Perugino throw. It looks great on your sofa, thanx for showing Vivienne!

Marja kwam in de winkel en stelde haar eigen Perugino Plaid/Omslagdoek samen met onder meer de nieuwe Colinette kleurstelling "Adonis Blue" in mohair. Deze kleur bestaat uit prachtige paars, blauw en groentinten. Colinette maakt kits in verschillende kleurstellingen maar zoals Marja kan je ook je eigen kleurencombo samenstellen en werkelijk iets unieks maken. Bedankt voor het showen, Marja!

De Perugino in roodtinten is gemaakt door Vivienne en is mijn favoriete kant-en-klaar kit, in de kleurstelling Charade. Deze kit had ik ook meegenomen na mijn bezoek aan Colinette in Wales om als monster te dienen en om aan klanten te vragen wat ze er van vonden. Het ziet er super uit op je bank, Vivienne! Bedankt voor het showen!

Bob's distant Dutch cousin prefers Noro.

Being wheeled around as a princess by my colleague Martine's daughter Lente, French bulldog Francis is tucked in with a Noro Kureyon sock yarn crochet scarf and she seems to love it. She would like to say hi to Ravelry's Bulldog Bob!

Gezeten in de poppenwagen van Martine's dochter Lente wordt Franse Bulldog Francis warm gehouden door een gehaakte Noro Kureyon Sock sjaal . Ze zou graag even de groeten doen aan de Bulldog van Ravelry, Bob!

Can you "Handle" this?

This morning we received a shipment of bag handles from Clover, and together with our other brands we can now offer a big and hip collection of fashionable bag handles that are very inspiring.

Tassenbeugels klinkt natuurlijk heel anders dan Bag Handles maar als je onze collectie nu ziet wil je er echt mee aan de gang! Heel modisch en inspirerend en van mooie kwaliteit van o.a. Clover.

Rowan 44 has arrived!

After long anticipation we can now dive into another fantastic Rowan journey! We also got some colours "Felted Tweed" in. This magazine features some beautiful Felted Tweed designs.

We hebben er naar uitgekeken maar hij is er nu! De Nederlandse vertalingen zullen in de loop van augustus volgen. Ook als toevoeging op de collectie hebben we prachtige kleuren "Felted Tweed" binnen gekregen. Er staan ook weer schitterende Felted Tweed modellen in dit magazine!

Machine Punch!

I wanted to try out this Huqsvarna Viking punch machine that is new in our sewing machine department. I took all kinds of left over yarns and with this machine punched it with the 5 needles on there onto and thru the fabric! First I drew some flowers on there and after just followed the lines. Veeeery addictive!

Deze machine van Husqvarna Viking is nieuw in onze winkel en ik wilde hem gelijk uitproberen. Ik tekende wat figuren op een stoffen hesje and ging daarna met allerlei restjes garen punchen. De machine heeft 5 naalden die met weerhaakjes de garens op en door de stof punchen. Zeer verslavend zal ik je zeggen.

Martine on "weefmarkt" demonstrating with Colinette and Noro.

My very creative colleague Martine is sitting in front of our shop demonstrating with Colinette and Noro yarns. This was on the 25th of june, when the annual Weaving/Creative market was held. We felt we had to do something special and we put all of our nicest yarns outside and created a cosy living room setting. She got a lot of attention!

Mijn zeer creatieve collega Martine zit hier buiten voor de winkel op de jaarlijkse weefmarkt. We wilden echt iets speciaals doen en daarom een demo met Colinette en Noro garens in een gezellige huiskamer setting. Ze had veel bekijks!

"Exilium Arboretum" performance uses our yarns. Nieuw stuk gebruikt onze garens.

Een stuk over naar de bomen verbannen adel, geheten "Exilium Arboretum", van www.blood-for-roses.com met sjaal en stola van onze garens. Twee foto's, de eerste is de meid met een sjaal en de tweede is een jongedame met de lakei, ze heeft haar stola op de tak hangen. Blood for roses staat bekend om site-specifieke performances met een sterk visueel en en fysiek karakter. Op safari langs een kolonie barokke aristocraten, die in bomen gestrand is. Exilium Arboreum is geïnspireerd op een passage uit het boek "De baron in de bomen" (1957) van Italo Calvino. Een Spaanse adellijke familie is ergens in de achttiende eeuw in opstand gekomen tegen de koning en vervolgens verbannen. Waar ze arriveren, verbiedt de wet dat ballingen ook maar een voet op de grond zetten. Als ze eenvoudigweg in de bomen gaan wonen, dan houden ze zich aan de regels. En daar zitten ze nu. Observeer hoe ze hun levensstijl proberen voort te zetten, hoe de kracht van verval werkt op hun gewoonten. Zie zelf of ze hier nu wel of niet hun thuis hebben gevonden. This new performance by www.blood-for-roses.com uses our yarns for a stola and a scarf! A small description of the performance:
On safari through a colony of baroque-era aristocrats stranded in the trees. Exilium Arboreum is inspired by a passage from Italo Calvino’s book ‘The Baron in the Trees’ (1957). Sometime in the eighteenth century, a Spanish noble family were banished after revolting against their king. The new country they arrived in, had a law forbidding exiles to set foot on their land. If they ascended to the trees however, no rules would be broken. So that is where we find them. Observe their efforts to maintain their former lifestyle and how the power of decay affects their habits. See for yourself if they have indeed found their place in this new setting. Anne Rooschüz (D) and Karen Røise Kielland (N) are Blood for Roses.Since graduating from the Amsterdam Theaterschool (mime departement) in 2003, they have been making mainly site-specific performances with a strong visual and physical character. Their work emerges from documentary material.

WIP and Colinette Iona Poll.

This gorgeous yarn is Colinette Iona. 70 % wool, 15 % silk and 15 % kid mohair. It feels so great to knit with. This skein was a sample I got from Colinette to try out. What do YOU think? Dit moet je echt zien, zo mooi, op een scherm toont het maar een fractie van de werkelijke schoonheid. De prijs is iets omhoog gegaan naar €14,95. (Aanbevolen consumentenprijs) Maar dat is dit garen dubbel en dwars waard! Een beauty!

Visualizing 50 KG...

My husband Christopher is losing weight. He had to lose a lot and still has to lose many kilo's. Because by now he has lost 50 (!!!!!) kilograms I gave him 5o kilo's of his favorite mineral Rose Quartz to visualize and to lift to remember how much work he has put into this.
They are stacked on top of each other in a little pyramid. It's so moving and unbelievable that he was carrying that pile of rocks around with him every day. Rose quartz is the crystal associated with unconditional love, compassion and healing. We put a solar garden lamp next to it so hopefully the whole thing will glow in the dark at night. :-

Christopher, mijn echtgenoot, heet in zijn afvalrace nu de 50 kilogrens doorbroken! Als cadeautje heb ik hem 50 kilos' van zijn favoriete mineraal Rose Quartz gegeven. Je kan je moeilijk voorstellen dat hij dit enorme gewicht elke dag meegedragen heeft! Daarom deze pyramide van steen om dit te visualiseren. Christopher houdt erg van kristal met een diepere betekenis, deze staat voor onvoorwaardelijke liefde, compassie en healing. Naaste de zonne-energie lamp gaat hij hopelijk 's avonds prachtig gloeien!

WEEF/CREAMARKT HOORN 2008!

Volgende week woensdag 25 juni is het weer zover, de jaarlijkse "Hoornse Weefmarkt". Er zullen dit jaar maar liefst 90 kramen staan! Weven, vilten, breien, hoeden maken etc etc etc. Wij zullen voor onze winkel een leuke Colinette demonstratie geven met de "Perugino Throw" in waanzinnge paars en blauwtinten. Komt allen!

Next week wednesday the 25th the annual weavingmarket will be held in Hoorn, the town where we have our shop. There will be about 90 stands! Weaving, hatmaking, felting, knitting etc etc. We will give a Colinette demonstration , knitting a Perugino throw in gorgeous purples and blues.
