Breien in het Rijksmuseum. Knitting in the Rijksmuseum.

Het Rijksmuseum nodigt op zaterdagmiddag 6 februari tussen 13.00 en 17.00 uur alle breiers, brei-fans en brei-fanaten van Nederland uit om te komen breien! De bekende Britse breister Sally Pointer heeft speciaal voor het Rijksmuseum een patroon beschikbaar gesteld dat is gebaseerd op een van de 17e eeuwse mutsen in de kostuumcollectie van het museum. Op de brei-middag krijgen alle geinteresseerden gratis dit breipatroon en wordt er vervolgens samen aan gebreid. De locatie voor de brei-middag is het Ateliergebouw, Hobbemastraat 22. Het evenement wordt georganiseerd vanwege de populaire tentoonstelling "IJspret" met winterlandschappen van Hendrick Avercamp die nog tot 15 februari te zien is in het Rijksmuseum. Mirasol "Sulka" (Nieuw in de winkel!) (New in our shop)

Ik zag dit garen laatst in een trui van een klant en het zag er zoo prachtig uit.... Vooral de kabels in haar trui kwamen met dit garen bijzonder mooi tot hun recht. Het merk heet Mirasol en komt uit Peru. Van elke bol die verkocht wordt bij dit merk gaat een deel direct naar een schoolproject voor kinderen van schaapherders! Het garen "Sulka" bestaat uit 60% merinowol, 20% Alpaca en 20% zijde. Het voelt heerlijk zacht aan en heeft een schitterende ingetogen glans. 16 steken op 10 cm op pen 6. €6,95 per 50 gram, 50 meter looplengte.

Some time ago I saw this yarn in a customer's pullover and it looked soo great... Especially the cable's stitch definition was stunning.
The brand is called Mirasol and comes from Peru. Of every purchase a portion is dedicated directly to the funding of a school for the children of the shepherds who provide the wool. This yarn is called "Sulka", feels wonderfully soft and has a tiny bit of silk shimmer. 16 stitches/4 " on 6mm needles. €6,95 per 50 grams, 50 meters.

I wanted to say how impressed my daughter and I were when we came to your shop in early November. It was a Saturday morning, and quite busy, so we didn't have time to chat, but all the shoppers were cheerful, and your service is excellent! I was SO amazed at the incredible range of stock you have! I stood in your shop and wanted to cry my eyes out, because I wanted it ALL! How I WISH we had been able to come to Hoorn at the beginning of our holiday, when my purse was full and my suitcase nearly empty! We had spent two weeks in Limburg, where there is very little going on in the knitting scene.

We came to Hoorn especially to come to your shop, and also paid a visit to the lovely Quilthuis Lieselotje, and I really do hope that I will be able to visit Hoorn again - it is a wonderful town!

Woonbeurs 2009 / Home Show 2009

Gezien op de woonbeurs: Ik dacht zelf laatst met haaknaald 20 stoer bezig te zijn maar dit slaat alles! Het "garen" leek net een gebreide en zacht gevulde maillot. Indrukwekkend hoor.

Seen at annual Dutch Home Show: I thought a 20 mm crochet hook was pretty cool but this is truly amazing! The "yarn" is a finely knitted filled tube.Very impressive.

Ik was lekker een weekje vrij en wat was het lekker weer om buiten te haken! Ik ben aan het experimenteren met de Zpagetti. Dubbele draad met haaknaald 20! Een echte haak-workout! Ik wil er een vloerkleed van maken.

I had a week off and the weather was great for come crocheting outside. I am experimenting with Zpagetti. Double thread on a 20 mm crochet hook! A real crochet workout! I want to make a rug out of it.

Collega Martine maakt deze cape-muts-beenwarmers-set van Lana Grossa "Cento" .We twijfelden eerst over de kleur maar we dachten een veilige kleur kan altijd nog... Martine heeft het geheel gestyled tot een mooi totaalbeeld!

My colleague Martine made this cape-hat-legwarmers-set with "Cento" by Lana Grossa. At first we had doubts about which colour to take but then we thought let's not go the safe way, you can always take a safe colour... Martine styled the whole set into a great look!

Kunstmarkt/Art market Hoorn: Artist Helma van Kleinwee

Helma van Kleinwee maakt haakkunst. Ze haakt, verft en modelleert bijzondere haak-objecten. Ze showde haar werk op de jaarlijkse kunstmarkt in Hoorn een paar weken terug. Het was een drukbezochte markt, echt de moeite waard! We hadden een erg leuke middag. Voor meer info over Helma's werk klik hier.

Vandaag bezochten we de jaarlijkse creatieve markt in Middelie, waar we de stand zagen van Kantjeboord, 2 dames (Karin and Jacqueline) die allerlei knuffelbeesten en andere leuke dingen. Ze breien ze niet zelf maar maken ze uit gerecyclede truien en vesten!

Today we visited the annual creative market in the nearby village of Middelie, where we came across a stand of Kantjeboord, 2 girls (Karin and Jacqueline) making all kinds of stuffed animals and other knitty stuff. They did not actually knit them but put them together out of recycled knitwear! You can find their website here.

Elma's luxury Noro creation.

Deze trui werd door Elma zelf ontworpen. Ze gebruikte Silk Garden Sock en een dun subtiel lurex gouddraadje. Let speciaal op het gebruik van de entrelac techniek, het ziet er geweldig uit! Bedankt voor het showen, Elma!

Baktus in Centolavaggi.

Dit patroon heet Baktus en is gebreid door enthousiaste klant Marjolein. Zij gebruikte hiervoor 2 strengen van ons nieuwe kantgaren Centolavaggi. Marjoleins commentaar: "Ik wilde je eventjes laten weten hoe geweldig zacht en warm deze sjaal geworden is , heb wel 4 draden gebruikt om een wat voller effect te krijgen en dochterlief is er helemaal weg van. Had wel de twee kluwens nodig en nog wel restje over, voor een smal kantsjaaltje ofzo." Bedankt voor het showen, Marjolein!

This pattern is called Baktus and was knitted by enthusiastic customer Marjolein. She used 2 skeins of our new laceyarn Centolavaggi. Marjolein's comment:"I wanted to let you know how wonderfully soft this scarf has become, I knitted with 4 threads to get a fuller effect. My daughter totally loves it! The leftovers will probably be enough for a small lacescarf". Thanks for showing, Marjolein!
